Wizz Air, the largest low cost low fare airline in Central and Eastern Europe announced today that it would launch two new routes from the Czech capital. Flights from Prague to Liverpool John Lennon airport will be launched on 11 July and operated 3 times a week, while as flights to Oslo Torp will start on 12 July and operated 4 times a week. Wizz Air, the largest low fare – low cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe announced today that it would add three new Airbus A320 aircraft and double its capacity in Romania in the next six months.

In 2009 the airline plans to carry over 1.7 million passengers in Romania, double the number of 2008 and its Romanian fleet will consist of six new A320 aircraft. Wizz Air will be operating 30 Romanian routes and employ more than 200 local staff by May 2009.

Wizz Air, Central and Eastern Europe’s largest low cost airline has placed a follow-on order for the IAE International Aero Engines V2500 to power and support a new fleet of 50 Airbus A320 aircraft. Supported by the V2500SelectSM after market agreement, the new deal has a value at list price of about $1.6 billion.

Wizz Air currently operates 18 IAE-powered aircraft and has on order a further 23 A320s that are already committed to be equipped with the V2500. This follow on order will make Wizz Air the largest European customer for IAE.

Wizz Air Ukraine, the first low fare - low cost airline in Ukraine announced that it had launched its first service from Kiev Borispol Airport to Simferopol at 6am today, in line with the earlier announced plan. The brand new Airbus A320 aircraft left fully loaded with 180 passengers on board.

Wizz Air introduces new transfer service from Cluj Napoca and Bucharest Baneasa airports to the centre of the cities

Wizz Air, the largest low fare - low cost airline based in Central and Eastern Europe introduced a new service enhancement. All passengers arriving to and departing from Cluj Napoca and Bucharest Baneasa airports are able to buy a comfortable mini bus or coach transfer to and from the city centre. The coaches run between Cluj Napoca International Airport and Piata Unirii in Cluj, and between Bucharest Baneasa and Piata Romana in Bucharest.

The new service is integrated in the booking transaction and can be purchased by selecting this option during the booking process itself and paying online in one single transaction together with the flight.

Earlier this year two new operating bases were added to Wizz Air’s map making Poznan (Poland) and Cluj (Romania) the airline’s seventh and eighth bases following Katowice, Budapest, Warsaw, Gdansk, Sofia and Bucharest. Wizz Air Ukraine, the first low fare - low cost airline in Ukraine announced at a press conference in Kiev today that it would start operating an initial network of seven Ukrainian domestic routes from its operating base at Kiev Boryspil Airport on 11 July 2008. Wizz Air Ukraine will provide low fare air travel service from Kiev Boryspil Airport to Lviv, Odessa, Simferopol, Kharkov and Zaporozhye. Wizz Air started to fly from Tirgu Mures Airport in July 2006 and decided to move its Transylvanian operation to Cluj in November 2007. On a press conference in Warsaw today the carrier said it was committed to a further growth in Poland and will achieve its goal through opening new routes and bases, increasing frequencies on existing routes and putting more aircraft into its Polish bases. The capacity growth will result in a 40% increase in passenger numbers in 2008 versus 2007. Wizz Air plans to carry around 4 million passengers to and from Poland this year.

Wizz Air, the largest low cost airline based in CEE recently announced a series of developments from its bases in Hungary and Poland.

The airline said, that it would expand its Budapest operations next summer by adding 15 new weekly flights compared to summer 2007 or 27% more capacity. The airline will increase frequencies on most of its current routes, add Goteborg, Oslo-Torp and Venice-Treviso to its Budapest network and reintroduce the popular summer seasonal flights to Bulgaria (Bourgas and Varna), Spain (Barcelona-Girona and Palma de Mallorca) and Greece (Corfu, Rhodes and Heraklion).

Concurrently the carrier announced that it would base an additional Airbus A320 aircraft to its largest base in Katowice. It will be delivered brand new from Toulouse in June 2008 and will be Wizz Air's fifth aircraft based in Katowice and twelfth in Poland. The new aircraft would be deployed to increase the frequencies on the majority of its existing routes and fly its seasonal flights to Bourgas, Heraklion and Barcelona Girona. The airline also said it would enhance its summer program by introducing Varna on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast as a new holiday destination. These developments will result in a 40% overall frequency increase from Katowice. Besides the network enhancement Wizz Air will continue to contribute to the regional economy by hiring the crew for the new aircraft locally. The recruitment will start early next year.

Wizz Air would also continue to develop its Gdansk base by increasing frequencies on the majority of its existing routes and launching new flights in summer season 2008. The airline will enter the Finnish market by launching Gdansk-Turku flight in April 2008 and will introduce the long awaited Gdansk-Barcelona/Girona flight from June 2008. These developments will result in a 38% increase in frequencies from Gdansk next summer versus summer 2007.

Overall, both Hungarian and Polish markets will see a significant network enhancement from Wizz Air resulting in the largest choice of low fare routes from its bases and further strengthening its leadership on the market.

Wizz Air and GE Commercial Aviation Services (GECAS) announced the closing of a sale and lease back transaction for six additional new Airbus A320 aircraft, all to be delivered in 2009. This agreement complements the two existing similar arrangement between the parties for the sale and lease back of a total of eight new A320s with deliveries in 2008 and 2009.

The aircraft are included in the purchase contracts between Wizz Air and Airbus Industries for up to 107 A320 family aircraft. The aircraft will come with a single class configuration of 180 seats, consistent with Wizz Air’s unified A320 fleet.

Under the terms of the transaction, GECAS will take ownership of the aircraft upon delivery from Airbus and Wizz Air will then lease them back from GECAS for an 11-year lease term.

Wizz Air announced today that it would expand its Sofia base in Bulgaria by deploying an additional new A320 aircraft starting from 12 July 2008. The airline will start new flights from Sofia to domestic Varna, Milan-Bergamo, Valencia, Barcelona and Izmir (Turkey), and will increase frequencies on existing services to London, Rome and Dortmund.

Wizz Air, the largest low fare-low cost airline based in Central and Eastern Europe announced today that it had signed a contract with Airbus for an additional order of 50 firm A320 aircraft and 25 options increasing its total orders up to 107 aircraft. The new order follows Wizz Air's existing A320 order, addresses its capacity requirements until 2014 and is the largest Airbus fleet order recorded in the CEE region. The firm aircraft deliveries will position Wizz Air to become one of the preeminent airlines in the region over the next decade.

In line with Wizz Air’s existing fleet, the new A320 aircraft come with enhanced cabin features and single-class configuration seating 180 passengers in comfortable leather seats.

The delivery stream of existing and new orders will result in the Wizz Air fleet having an average age of less than 3 years for the next 10 years promoting high operational efficiency and technical reliability, increased passenger comfort, environmental efficiency and one the lowest seat mile cost in the region.

Wizz Air introduced a new service enhancement which will allow passengers to book the most comfortable seats in advance. After a week of successful testing this service on the London-Budapest route, the airline is now offering allocated seats with extra legroom in rows 12 and 13 for its passengers travelling from 29 October, on the whole network.

The service is available for purchase online on wizzair.com. The price of an allocated seat is EUR 5 if paid online concurrently with the booking and EUR 10 if paid after the initial booking (via the call centre or at the airport).

This service comes in line with Wizz Air’s service innovations that were introduced earlier this year such as priority boarding, travel insurance purchase within a single transaction as well as baggage charge only for actually checked baggage.

Wizz Air announced today that it would launch new winter flights from Warsaw to Italy and to France. Wizz Air said today that it would introduce further measures to speed up the check-in and increase the efficiency of the baggage handling process. Following the airline’s announcement last October to charge if there was more than one checked-in bag, Wizz Air will now charge for each bag. The baggage charge will be 3 euros per bag if paid at the time of the initial booking and 6 euros if paid after it (via call centre or at the airport). Passengers are encouraged to take as few bags as they can to save time and increase efficiency of the check-in process.

The measures will be introduced today and apply to all passengers who book from today for travel after 27 October. All the passengers who booked before and travel after 27 October will not be charged at the airport.

The new policy will not change the current rule that allows only one handbag on board not exceeding 10 kg. The excess baggage charge of 8 euros for each kg over the 20 kg allowance also remains unchanged.

Under the terms of the transaction, GECAS will take ownership of the aircraft upon delivery from Airbus and Wizz Air will then lease them back from GECAS for an 11-year lease term.
